In spring 2004, Cheryl Nelson Butler contacted the National Office of Continental Societies, Incorporated to inquire about the organization. A core group of women (Cheryl Nelson Butler, Rhonda Arnold, Ashleigh Rosette, Dana Hollie and Keryl Morgan) assembled to discuss the possibilities. They met with Doncella Milton, President the Dallas Chapter to discuss the formation of an interest group. By mid-summer, the interest group was organized and performing service projects.
On October 9, 2004, the Houston Metropolitan Chapter was chartered with National President E. Tonya Greenwood, National 1st Vice President W. Chris Stewart, National Treasurer M. Jean Cooper, Atlanta Chapter, National Historian Florence Blount, Newport News/Hampton, Chapter and Immediate Past National President, Earlene P. Dotson, Greater Miami Chapter in attendance. Also present for the chartering was MidWest-Western Regional Director Constance White, Chicago Chapter and 5 members from Dallas, the sponsoring chapter, Doncella Milton, President Dallas Chapter, Louise W. Davis, Hortense Ransom, Doris Collins, Gloria Lett.
Houston Metropolitan Chapter became the sixth chapter in the MidWest-Western Region. Since it's chartering, the chapter has made great strides in serving children in the Greater Houston area. Projects and programs have been successfully executed, impacting many, many children.
