History:
In 1968, the Twin Cities Chapter of the Continental societies was established by its sponsoring chapter-Baltimore, MD. Since its inception, the Twin Cities Chapter (TCCS), has planned and implemented many educational programs in the Twin Cities Metro Area centered around Health, Education, Employment, Recreation, as well as Arts and Humanities, (HEER).
Chapter Highlights:
- The first National President, Lillian Parks-Thomas, was one of the founding members of the Twin Cities Chapter.
- In 1999, the Twin Cities Chapter launched its reading program, Continental Youth Publications (CYP) to assist Twin Cities Metro Area youth meet public school reading standards.
- In 2002, the Twin Cities Chapter launched its Adopt a Class program in partnership with McGee Institute of Technology (MIT), to provide self esteem based learning and assist with career planning by creating a Blueprint for Success.
